Valentines Day ...

We had a really nice Valentines Day this year. Justin was off from work, so we had the whole day together. I made a festive breakfast of eggs in a blanket and pink pancakes. After breakfast we went to the Springs Preserve. It was a great day exploring the exhibits and having Mary watch the animals. We had lunch at their cafe and it was really good. For dinner Justin made some yummy steaks on the grill and a nice bottle of wine.

I tried taking some cute Valentines pictures of Mary, but she was a little crab apple and I only got her to sit still for a little bit.

First Park Visit ...

Last week, we took Mary to Floyd Lamb State Park for the very first time. It was a nice sunny day, so we had lunch while we were there. Of course all the birds were begging for our food. After we were done, I helped Mary stand on the ground to say hello to some ducks. She tried to walk towards them to play. She was so curious about the whole place. Before I knew it, Justin put our leftover chips on the ground. Before I knew it we were surronded by birds.

After we were ran out from our picninc spot, we stopped at another pound. No more than ten minutes a few geese flew over head and pop! Mary got pooped on, right in the middle of the top of her head! Poor baby girl didn't even notice it I think. We cleaned it up right away and headed home to give her head a good washing. Getting poopedon must run in the family. Many years ago Marietta got pooped on in San Diego and Justin has gotten pooped on in Hawaii.

Post-Partum ...

I have been really blessed with how fast my delivery was (only 2 1/2 hours) and how fast my body bounced back. Of course right after birth I looked about five months pregnant and my belly felt all squishy. But it only took me ten days to get back to my pre-baby weight. I know i'm extremely lucky and I thank my lucky stars, but I can't get over some peoples reactions. Just a week after birth we were at Babies r us and the check out asked how old Mary was. She then looked me up and down and asked it I was the one who gave birth. Hinting like we adopted. Okay a little annoyed, but not too bad. I just smiled and said yes.

Fastforward to a week ago and we were visiting Justin's Grandfather in a physical therapy/rehab facility. On the way out we stopped by the nurses station to get a update on when he would be released. After talking to the discharge nurse she asked how old Mary was and her reply was so blunt, i'm sure my mouth hung open. "Is she adopted?" Just the idea of someone thinking that my baby girl wasn't mine infuriated me. I played a happy ha ha face and said no, I was lucky and my body just bounced back quickly. "Wow, lucky you" she said. with almost a disgusted face.

I just can't get over some people rudeness! They haver absolutly no filter in what comes out of their mouth. I can't imagine any new mother being okay with hearing that their baby is adopted. Maybe I'll just start walking around with a pillow under my shirt ;)

Super Bowl ...

This years Super Bowl we headed to our friends house to watch the game. They had a small party with a few friends. It was a great time catching up with everyone, since we have been MIA due to baby. Mary was in a great mood that day and loved all the attention. No ones team was playing so it was more of us rooting for whoever had who for a bet. But once the big power outage, bring on the imaginations and plot theories. All in all it was a really fun day with great friends, yummy food, and refreshing drinks.

Mary was so tuckered out she didn't even finish her drink.
